Today is the Japanese Festival in honor of your worn and broken pins and needles. I posted on Flying Fingers Plus about it.
I have piles of pin cushions, needlebooks and pinkeeps. I love making them.
Here are a few in honor of the day.

I thought as I posted the pix that I should include the verse--but I couldn't remember it. I didn't like the verse on the original design and thus the project languished for years. But I did love the idea, and I finally found a verse I liked to substitute. "I cannot count the day complete 'till needle, thread, and fabric meet." (I had to go look at the doll to double check it. My memory is so bad!)
I love that one too...where did you find the pattern? All of your pincushions are wonderful...such a variety!
This was a very old pattern. I finished the doll in 2010 but I bet I got the pattern at least five years earlier, perhaps more. The pattern was "Pin Cushion Doll and Strawberry Emery" from Makeit by Sewing Chest Designs. I don't know if they're still around.

Really enjoyed seeing all your pincushions and needle keepers. Great idea for a needle felted one to house needlefelting needles.
These are beautiful. I just found a 1930s china doll who is spposed to go on top of a pincushim.... a bit like in your first picture
