Michigan City Zoo

On a recent gorgeous end-of-summer day we took a jaunt out to the Michigan City Zoo. It's one of our favorite places. We climbed up to spot that overlooked Lake Michigan. There were para-gliders off to the side, just out of view.
In addition to fauna there are flora:
And a really cute train.
The waves were high along the beach.

I remember many visits to Michigan City when I was really young. It was still an amusement park then, with rides and games, besides the zoo. We always walked up to see monkey island. I guess at that age I was more interested in the monkeys; I don't remember the beautiful view of the lake. But I do remember the picnic lunches on the beach later. I think it was still Silver Beach when we went. (I would have loved riding that train!)
